Forthcoming Meetings

Jan 18 Howard Benbrook - `Getting the most from Find My Past'. Our local expert will explain the advantages of using the very wide range of resources now available. Here is an excellent opportunity to learn why many experienced professionals chose this as the most accurate of the current Internet resources.

Feb 18 NB Saturday afternoon 2pm Alan Meeks - `Henry Morton Stanley, Local Hero'. One of the greatest African explorers lived and was buried nearby, at Pirbright, yet few local people realise this. This comprehensive talk will take Stanley's story from his humble origins in North Wales to his exciting life and major African expeditions. This is a well illustrated, gripping tale.

Mar 21 Jeanne Bunting will share her views on `Is the Internet killing the thrill of the chase?' Whilst the Internet has undoubtedly revolutionised research, with many enthusiasts going no further than their laptops, the eureka moment that was shared in a record office is today a rarer experience. How should we approach this new phenomenon?
