WSFHS Dorking Centre
Dorking Christian Centre, near St Martin's Church, Church Street, Dorking
For a number of years The Society has held local Meetings at Dorking most months of the year. The Meetings are completely free to attend, and are an opportunity to hear expert speakers, and to share an enjoyable evening with fellow family historians.
The time has come when the volunteers who have so generously given their time to run the meetings are unable to carry on, and at the moment nobody has come forward to take over the running of the Centre on behalf of the Society. Very regrettably therefore the Dorking Meetings will have to be discontinued until or unless someone (or more than one person) is willing to take on the job. As things stand at present there will be no further Meetings at Dorking after June 2008.
To keep the Centre running, all that is needed is one, two, or more willing Members. If you think you might be able to help in any way at all then please do get in touch to have a chat about what’s involved.
For the future nothing is set in stone so key issues such as the Meetings’ venue, and the start and finish times of the Meetings are all open to discussion and possible change. Providing we have Members willing to help then nothing is ruled out, or ruled in.
The Society is keen to continue its presence in Dorking so it will be really good news if you can spare just a little time to help keep the Dorking Meetings running. If you think you may be able to help please contact Ann Sargeant, Secretary, West Surrey Family History Society. Email: secretary@wsfhs.org - The phone number is inside every issue of Root and Branch
