For map and directions to Woking Leisure Centre please Click Here Whether you have Surrey ancestors or not, there will be plenty to interest you as many family history societies have booked to attend as well as local history societies. Commercial organisations who have booked will have available a range of genealogical related items ranging from new and second hand books to software and data disks, from postcards to maps and in addition there is our own very extensive Bookstall! For list of family history societies and other organisations that have booked to attend Click Here Plan of Main Hall to follow The separate Research Room will provide a wide range of resources for research including computer help and look-ups by the Census Detectives and by a number of other volunteers who will have access to a number of sites including Ancestry, Findmypast and Origins on the day. One of the computer help tables will be dedicated to helping beginners. We are also pleased to announce Chobham as our feature village, so if you have Chobham ancestors, come and visit the display where information will be available. Following last year's positive response we have again planned a number of free short talks followed by question time in a dedicated talks room. Details to follow closer to the time. A team of experienced researchers will give general help and advice on family history questions in the Main Hall. In addition, in the Research Hall there will be a Help Desk for general research queries plus a number of specialised Help Desks. This year Bob Brock will be available to help you date old photographs, so bring those old prints with you. More specialist help desk information details to be advised. Please remember to bring relevant information with you on the day to make the most of using the research facilities. We welcome disable visitors. Access is via the main entrance to the Leisure Centre. If the disabled spaces in the car park are taken up please contact the Leisure Centre Reception so that special arrangements can be made. If you have Surrey ancestors why not combine a visit to the Surrey History Centre in Woking on Friday with attendance on the Open Day on the Saturday?
