RA48 A LIST oF MIDDLESEX MONUMENTAL INSCRIPTIONS BY Cliff Webb.
by Cliff Webb. Monumental inscriptions are, of course, a very valuable source for genealogists. Many copies, made in the past, preserve information from tombstones no longer standing, or if standing, no longer legible. When modern surveys of churches and churchyards are made and published, it is not always clear whether the compilers have utilized and cross-checked with older copies. For this reason in this list, I have included all copies that I can find, except where it is clear that the copy is of a published edition. (£1.00 + p&p 40p UK or £1.00 overseas surface).

RA52 SURREY ELECTORAL REGISTERS & Where to Find Them compiled by Cliff Webb who writes: " The 1832 Representation of the People Act created a new class of document, the Electoral Register. For any person to exercise their right to vote, they had (and have) to be on the current electoral register. They have been compiled annually since 1832, except for the war years of 1916-17 and 1940-44. ..... In 1911 it was estimated 60% of the male adult population was registered. In 1918, what was effectively universal male suffrage was introduced and universal female suffrage but for over 30s only. In 1928 the franchise was extended to women from 21 to 30 and from 1971 the age limit was lowered to 18 (though soldiers and sailors of 19 and 20 had been registered after World War I)". 12 pages A5 Price £1.00 + p&p 50p UK or £1.00 overseas surface
RA53 LONDON & MIDDLESEX NONCONFORMIST REGISTERS digitised by Ancestry.com , compiled by Cliff Webb, who writes: “ Ancestry.com have now digitised many nonconformist registers at London Metropolitan Archives and put them online on their pay per view site. It would seem that Ancestry.com really only intend this to be a search site, as the labelling of files often does not enable one to find out the actual church at which the record took place .... I have accordingly compiled a list of these registers currently digitised arranged by the name accorded the entity in Ancestry's browsing list and given a clarification of this information, mainly identifying the location of the chapel, and sometimes the denomination.” 16 pages A5 Price £1.20 + p&p 50p UK or £1.00 overseas surface

RA54 SOUTH LONDON AND SURREY – Ancestry.com COVERAGE OF BAPTISMS - post 1813,
compiled by Cliff Webb, who writes in the Introduction: “ In collaboration with London Metropolitan Archives (LMA), the Guildhall Library and the Corporation of London, Ancestry.com have digitised a large proportion of the parish registers and bishops' transcripts held by LMA and placed them on their website. They have also indexed the documents. . . . . It is worth noting that the BTs for Westminster parishes (whose registers are not at LMA) have been digitised (though they generally only run from about 1800 to the 1830s and have major gaps even then). Rather strangely BTs were completed for the burials from two large cemeteries: Norwood and Nunhead and these have also been digitised. In general Ancestry have digitised baptisms to 1906, marriages to 1921 and burials to whatever date they were available. However, most urban churchyards were closed in the 1850s, so there is relatively little material after then. ” 16 pages A5 Price £1.20 + p&p 50p UK or £1.00 overseas surface

RA 57 A GUIDE TO SURREY SCHOOLS AND THEIR RECORDS - October 2011.
Compiled by Cliff Webb, who writes in the introduction: ‘The records of schools can be useful supplements and substitutes to others for the pursuit of genealogical research, and have considerable value for family history purposes in their own right. This is an attempt to list all educational establishments within the area covered by the ancient county of Surrey, excluding the old London County Council (LCC) area (which are covered by my Index to London Schools and their Records published by Society of Genealogists Enterprises, Ltd), and any records of genealogical interest. . . . . Schools were required to keep certain records under various school codes. For example the Elementary School Code, 1903 laid down that all schools should have (a) registers of admission, progress and withdrawal (b) attendance registers and (c) a register of summaries’ 155 pages, A5.
