She pays tribute to a painting by Dr. Bridget DUCKENFIELD on her page and encourages readers to look at the London and Middlesex Parish Registers online from the LMA.
- Chairman's Letter:
Sue Turner recommends that wherever you live, keep an eye on your local Record Office or Local Studies Library and provide support because the recession is being felt
in all aspects of life. Sue also continues the fascinating saga of her absconding cousin and reminds readers that ancestors can turn up in the most interesting indexes
so it's worth expanding searches.
- From the Secretary:
Ann Sargeant reports that WSFHS Members can now enjoy events organised by a number of other organizations listed under Diary of Events around the UK.
She notes that volunteers will be welcomed by the Heritage Gallery in the Main Square at Camberley, which is raising the profile of the Surrey Heath Museum.

Norfolk records for distant members who are in need of assistance.
- Computer Corner:
Jeanne Bunting isn't letting a broken leg totally disrupt her family history pursuits.
She recommends a website that contains thousands of digitized books on it and reveals her latest gadget: a pen scanner that she found at a car boot sale.
She shares some thoughts on her new mobile phone and reports that volunteers can assist with transcribing various international records for a free, online pilot project.

What's on at Camberley, Farnham, Guildford, Walton-On-Thames and Woking, plus a recap of recent meetings, as well as an update on Computer Group activities.
- Future Meetings at the Society:
Choose from 24 upcoming meetings of West Surrey Family History Society from March through June.
- Newsfrom Surrey Heritage: By the end of last year, 300 postcards, 114 maps, 400 photographs and
an additional 705 Netherne mental hospital case files were added to the archives. Progress was also made on indexing the Brookwood hospital case books,
providing access to information about the first 4,000 patients at the hospital.
Experts from Surrey Heritage will continue to hold monthly family history internet and general advice sessions throughout Surrey libraries in 2010.
Volunteers, here's a project for you: help digitize Surrey's tithe records.
